Droid 2 Global was expected to arrive with great pomp and advertising. However the ad for this new device from Motorola just appeared on Verizon’s website without much notice. Motorola can be credited for putting together a YouTube video that reveals the features of the world’s first 1.2 GHz smartphone. The handset maker does a great job in promoting their phones and helps users get the most out of their devices. Check out the below video to see how the Droid 2 Global looks.

American mobile operator Verizon has released a promotional video for the new Droid X smartphone. The ad is pretty cool, and I really recommend everyone to check it:

Verizon and Motorola have teamed up yesterday to announce the new Android smartphone – Motorola Droid X. Main features of the handset include:

Display: 4.3-inch display with resolution of 854 x 480
Processor: TI OMAP3630 1GHz,
Misc: HDMI out
Camera: 8 megapixel with dual LED flash and 720p video capture
Storage: 8GB of onboard storage with expansion of up to 32GB (you get a 16GB card in the box)
Operating System: Android 2.1 with an all-new UI skin

All of his is stuffed in a package 9.9mm thick. Software wise, Droid X features an integrated mobile hotspot with support for up to 5 devices connected over WiFi, DLNA support, and a legit multitouch keyboard with Swype technology. It won’t launch with Android 2.2 Froyo, but that will come later this year as an upgrade along with Flash 10.1 support. The phone will be available in the US on July 15 for $199.99 on contract after rebate, while the mobile hotspot service will run $20 extra a month with a 2GB cap and 5 cent per MB overage (data consumed on the phone itself is unlimited). Mirroring AT&T’s move with the iPhone 4, all Verizon customers with upgrade dates in 2010 will be pulled up so they are eligible for the new Droid X as soon as it’s available.

Android 2.1 for Motorola Milestone

Earlier today Motorola officially announced an upgrade of the Milestone smartphone to Android 2.1. The upgrade can be downloaded directly to the phone and installed. The upgrade includes support for animated backgrounds, number of new applications and features, and so called Motorola Car Home interface. It is currently available to the users in France. Upgrades for German, Italian and UK users will be coming in the next few weeks.

Motorola Droid upgrade to 2.1 delayed

Unfortunately the highly anticipated upgrade of Motorola Droid to Android 2.1 has been delayed. No further details are available at this stage. Hopefully this delay is caused by some small bugs and the upgrade will be deployed in the near future. I will keep you posted.

Android 2.1 on the Motorola Droid today!

MobileChurch reports that according to the leaked memo, Motorola Droid will be upgraded to the Android 2.1 on Thursday 18th of March (US time). The upgrades will be rolled out gradually, so it might take few days before everyone gets the new version. But the wait is definately worth it:).

There is currently no information whether Mororola Milestone will get the upgrade, but I will keep looking and will let everyone know as soon as the information becomes available.

So if you are a lucky Milestone owner – be patient, the upgrade might be just around the corner.
