Android Market will get an update in the next couple of weeks

Few days ago Google announced that the Android Market will be getting an important upgrade over the next couple of weeks. All devices running on Android version 1.6 and up, and that’s about 94 percent of all Android devices will get the update. Google: Over 300,000 Android device activations every day

Andy Rubin, the head of the Andoid development team at Google, just tweeted that there are over 300,000 activations of Android phones per day. This is 100,000 more activations per day since August 2010. Simply incredible… If you think about the numbers, that is 2,100,000 weekly activations or 9,000,000 monthly or 109,500,000 yearly. That’s a lot of phones. Go Android!

Winamp for Android officially released

Despite having been available in the Android Market in beta form for a while now, Winamp for Android was never really officially announced by AOL. Earlier this week however, they’ve updated the application and put the official stamp of greatness on it, including full Shoutcast support, iTunes library import and wireless desctop syncronisation. As noted on the Winamp blog, this release pushes Winamp to version 0.9.2 and adds a ton of new features to the already awesome media player.
