Samsung Galaxy S

Earlier this week, at the CTIA WIRELES 2010 exhibition in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled its new flagship Android smartphone – Samsung Galaxy S. The device has very impressive characteristics (which is expected from a phone of this level) that will enable it to (almost certainly) be one of the most technically advanced Android based smartphones for a few months after the release.

Technical specifications are as follows:

  • Display – 4” touch-sensitive display, Super AMOLED
  • Processor – 1 GHz
  • Interface – TouchWIZ 3D
  • Camera – 5 MP
  • Built-in memory for data storage (the size is not yet known)
  • GPS module
  • Android 2.1

The price for the Australian market is not yet known, but it will probably be similar to the initial price of the Samsung Galaxy. In general, Galaxy S looks very appealing, but do not forget that later this year (most likely in the spring or closer to Christmas) HTC will probably also update the flagship for the Android platform. HTC EVO 4G has already been announced for the U.S. market, and hopefully similar model will be released for the rest of the world.
