ACast for Android

I was recently looking for a RSS reader and found two high quality programs – ACast and NewsRob. Today I would like to talk about ACast. It turned out that this application is not just a RSS reader, but can also serve as a podcast management tool.

On the Internet ACast is as likely to be mentioned in the podcast discussions (forums or blogs), as in the RSS discussions. Well… let’s see…

The program has a fairly intuitive and user friendly interface.

If you like playing with settings, then this program is for you. In ACast you can configure almost anything. You can set the download options. For example, only update the content when connected to Wi-Fi, or while charging the phone. You can also configure the frequency of updates. Or adjust the controls.

ACast also supports Twitter, which is becoming standard for most social applications. Once you have found an interesting podcast, you can share it with your followers.

ACast has its own list of resources (RSS feeds and podcasts), sorted by category. To add a feed or a podcast you can use the search function, manually enter the url, or link ACast to your Google Reader account.

Once the subscription is finalised, you can view the list of resources. Simply click on the name of a resource to open the list of corresponding articles, materials, or podcasts. Read materials will be marked with a tick. Here you can download all news at once to read them when your phone is not connected to the Internet.

I really liked the program. It has a good user interface, sufficient functionality and a vast customasiation abilities.
