When I received my Nexus One and started playing with the latest version of Android, I realised that changing phone profiles was not straightforward and easy. When at work I usually put my phone on silent and turn the vibration on. To do that I had to go through few menus, which wasn’t very convenient. I then decided to search Market for applications that can simplify profile management. The first application that I found and installed was ProfileChanger by Cube Innovations.
Basically, ProfileChanger allows you to create multiple profiles and automate them. The application will mange your profiles with respect to time. In order to add a new profile you will need to enter a name for it, set activation time, select ringer mode (silent, normal, vibrate, normal+vibrate) and select days on which this profile will be activated. That’s it. You can create multiple profiles and they will be automatically activated at selected times and days. I currently have three active profiles:
- Work
- Home
- Week-end
There isn’t much else to tell about the program. User interface is quite clean and easy-to-understand. I haven’t had any performance issues or errors.
Conclusion. If you use phone profiles and want to automate them to make your life a bit easier, give ProfileChanger a go.
Program is free and is available on the Market.
